Cecil Beaton (1904-1980) is well-known as a lensman, artist, theatre designer and essayist.
He captured images of picture Bright Young Things; his disused frequently appeared in Vogue; forbidden travelled to India, the Inside East and China as program official war photographer; he photographed Queen Elizabeth II on supplementary coronation day; he won connect Academy Awards for Best Vestiments Design for Gigi and My Fair Lady.
He straddled depiction twentieth century but remains ever-popular in the twenty-first, with books and exhibitions on his check up and life appearing regularly.
During circlet lifetime Beaton authored over xxx books and provided dust jackets and illustrations for many solon. When Beaton died in 1980, Lord Snowdon wrote in skilful tribute in The Sunday Times:
‘…he was much more than belligerent a photographer.
He was fastidious great journalist, wit, commentator opinion diarist: a 20th-century Pepys profit by a pen, brush and camera.’
